Here is a presentation of four map concepts with a unique gameplay that I thought. I wanted to use a new background from what we saw in Battlefield 3 and Back to Karkand by proposing winter environments. I had enouth with sand, lol.

 

TITLE > Operation Saber Tooth
WORKING TITLE > Ski
SUPPORTED GAME MODES > Mostly rush and squad rush
BRIEF > Coming down a mountain especially with snowmobiles
ATTACKER (RUSH MODE) > USA

FICTION > A US freighter plane crashed in Caucasus mountains, revealing the presence of a russian base with heavy anti-air defenses. A squad of Rangers just climbed the north side of the mountain and is on his way to collect the cargo. Next, the group will have to go down, reach the enemy base and disable its defenses.

DESIGN TOUGHTS > Operation Saber Tooth offers a unique gameplay because the level always goes down from the crash site to the russian base, promoting the attackers speed. On the other side, the russians have got solid defenses on the last target. The fact that the level is sloping create a wrong balance for mods like Conquest and Deathmatch, but it depends how things will be design. This is a snowy and sunny map, with fog in the top of the heights. I thanks mister Nolan and his movie Inception that inspired me a lot.

ARCHITECTURE > All the elements are yet to create indeed because winter textures doesn't exist in the actual game, neither the firs, etc. The ruined village is made of old big stones, for instance the villages we can see in Medal of Honor. The russian stronghold must have an atypical look! To finish, we need to create snowmobiles and the armored half-track.


TITLE > Fall of Berlin
WORKING TITLE > Snowfall
SUPPORTED GAME MODES > All
BRIEF > Short range infantry fighting in offices, parkings and under a snowstorm outside the buildings.
ATTACKER (RUSH MODE) > RUS

FICTION > Berlin must fall. Taking the city will grant to Russians a bridgehead for their operations in Europe ! However, the US army has been called in as reinforcements to protect the city.

DESIGN TOUGHTS > It is a nod in the direction of Battlefield 2142 that has a map of the same name (Fall of Berlin). The interest of this long map is to favor short range infantry encounters. In order to move forward, the players will have the choice between two ways. Going through various buildings (offices, parkings). Or using the streets where the sight will be decreased by a strong snowfall. The map is played by day, but it doesn't matter because of the weather.

ARCHITECTURE > Outside, the buildings fronts must be more modern than those in Paris maps. For the insides, using again models and textures of parkings and offices seen in the campaign mission « Comrades » will be fine. Snow textures and blizzard effect are to create.

 

TITLE > Battle of Anchorage
WORKING TITLE > Airport
SUPPORTED GAME MODES > All
BRIEF > Debarkation on a city and its airport.
ATTACKER (RUSH MODE) > RUS

FICTION > The Russians want to take control of Alaska and its oil ressources by taking the city of Anchorage. If they hold the airport, the city will be cut off from the rest of the United States of America (no highway exists).

DESIGN TOUGHTS > This map allows us to play not a US landing, but a Russian one this time. The landing zone is huge but it is next to the airport and a residential area too. At the airport, there are many positions of American defenses and almost no place to take cover. It will be hard to go through magineguns and snipers without the support of armored vehicules. Squads can unload in front of the residential zone and circumvent most of the US defenses. The hardest A and B targets to take down are the first two. With the coast defenses under control, the Russians will be able to move forward more easily. This is a sunny map with snow on the ground, except for the tarmacadam and the roads.

ARCHITECTURE > We need to create a big airport with its buildings, with winter textures of course. The airport terminal and the control tower are key buildings of the map and must be well designed. We need to create the Russian aircraft carrier and jetskis.

 

TITLE > Operation Dust
WORKING TITLE > Quad
SUPPORTED GAME MODES > All
TYPE DE GAMEPLAY > Fights in a rocky area and quad driving.

ATTACKER (RUSH MODE) > USA

BRIEF > Winter is ending. The remaining of a Russian armored division disappeared several kilometers northeast of Kaboul. The US intelligence thinks that they are hiding in Afghan villages waiting for supplies and doing repairs. A US Special Forces group will go there to check those informations and may attempt to sabotage the Russian equipement if possible.

DESIGN TOUGHTS > The idea of this map is from a mission I liked in the last Medal of Honor, driving a quad, and because I enjoyed driving this vehicle in Battlefield Bad Company 2 as well. The aim is to assault several villages scattered in the Afghan mountains. To do that, Marines can use quads. The map has got multiple roads and serpentine paths, rocky hills great for encounters, a few wooden bridges, and villages. The map is played by night, with a dirt ground. Snowdrifts are still visible across the map. In Rush mode, we can add two AH-6J LITTLE BIRD helicopters but they need a nightvision device.

ARCHITECTURE > Just copy the look of the roads and the villages seen in Medal of Honor. The roads must be winding, with lots of hills and ravines. Of course, we need to create quads.

 

BONUS 1 : 2 CO/OP MISSIONS

- An infiltration mission based on the coop missions number 3 and 4 but this time in a snowy mountain.
- A mission where we play a tank crew, a pilot and a gunner.

 

BBONUS 2 : CLASS SPECIALISATIONS

A new customisation is available for each class. It varies even more the gameplay by offering an alternative to the squad bonus. Those customisations enhance a specific role for each class.ONUS 2 : SPECIALISATIONS DE CLASSE

Assault : Training in first aid : Increases the area of effect of the first aid kit (x1.5) and the maximum number of healings per kit (x1.5).

Engineer : Training in engineering : Increases the repair speed with the repair kit (x1.5) and the effect of « Maintenance » (vehicle unlock) if selected (x1.5)

Support : Training in logistic : Increases the area of effect of the ammo kit (x1.5) and the maximum number of resupplies per kit (x1.5)

Recon : Training in spotting : Increases the area of effect of the Tactical Unattended Ground Sensor (T-UGS) (x2)

The pictures are created with video game screenshots, movie captures, pictures from Google Maps and Google Earth, and photos found on Internet. Those creations are for private use and nonprofit.

Beside, their quality is variable, depending on the sources used and the graphic effects I applied on them. The only goal is to illustrate my ideas : I do not pretend to be a graphist !
